L.A.A.2.2.2.
Author's Purpose
The author's purpose is the author's reason, or motive, for writing a particular work. When you explain the author's purpose, you answer the question, "Why did the author write this?"

Some of the reasons an author might write include to explain, to entertain, or to inform.
Different authors might have very different purposes for writing about skate boarding:

*To explain the history of skate boarding.
*To entertain you with a story about winning an exciting skate board contest.
*To inform you about the opening of a new skate board park.
