What is the Tenth Grade Reading Program?

Using an history-based format, the tenth grade reading program, Reading Timeline, provides FCAT-like reading passages and questions. In addition to FCAT-like practice questions, it offers eight lessons on skills tested by the 10th grade FCAT.

What are the Program's Special Features?

  • Twenty-three passages and 453 practice questions.
    • Short response questions. Your child compares typical student responses. Feedback explains both correct and incorrect choices.
    • Extended response questions. Your child assigns a grade to the model response of a typical student. Feedback explains why the response receives a high or partial score.
    • Open response questions. Your child prepares a written response. Feedback explains why the model response received a high score.
  • Children needing extra support have eight remedial reading lessons.
    • A pre-test determines your child’s reading ability.
    • The site guides those needing extra support to materials that teach strategies for improved reading.
    • Your child will practice the new strategies before returning to the regular program.
    • A post-test determines if your child is ready to start the regular practice program.
  • Learn More—Passage topics include a section for background material like historical detail, charts, and illustrations. This extra information deepens your child’s understanding of the topics.
