FCAT Explorer includes mathematics programs for elementary, middle, and high school. At each of these levels, FCAT Explorer offers an interactive program designed to provide students with the skills practice they need to succeed on the mathematics FCAT. Developed by the Florida Department of Education with help from Florida's mathematics teachers, these programs support Florida's Next Generation Sunshine State Standards.

High School Mathematics

Math Timeline: High School Math offers a graphically enhanced, interactive timeline as a context for Algebra and Geometry practice items. Each math problem has a historical context that exposes the student to important events in science, math, astronomy, or technology. Math Timeline also includes remedial lessons for Geometry.

Middle School Mathematics

Math Navigator: 8th Grade Benchmarks offers all new and revised items based on the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards. Students navigate using a rich futuristic interface as the metaphor. Mathematics practice is divided into three areas: art, history, and science. This program includes a fully interactive calculator and a reference sheet. An interactive glossary, available from the item feedback pages, offers key vocabulary terms with translations for Spanish and Haitian-Creole.

Elementary School Mathematics

Math Station: 5th Grade Benchmarks is based on the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards. With practice items navigated by a hand-held electronic device as the metaphor, students work on word problems that cover history, geography, science, nutrition, fitness, and other subjects. An interactive glossary, available from the item feedback pages, offers key vocabulary terms with translations for Spanish and Haitian-Creole.

Extensive Tools for Teachers
 

On the FCAT Explorer Teacher's Desk, an array of tools and resources support data-driven instruction. These features give teachers the ability to:

  • Create classes and add or delete students as needed
  • Print benchmark or skill-based progress reports for individuals and classes
  • Review and print reading passages and practice items by passage, benchmark, or skill for use in class activities
  • Review and print practice items by theme, strand, or benchmark
  • Download and print Teacher's Desk manuals, parent letters, student sign-in names and passwords, student achievement certificates, and open-response items
  • Link to Department of Education FCAT-related materials
